Intro to Soap Making (January 18th at Noon)

About this Event:

If you’re interested in learning how to make cold process soap, you are in the right place!

In this intensive, 4-hour class, you will gain a strong understanding and foundation in the art and science of cold process soapmaking. Using a plant-based recipe, you will go through the step-by-step process of creating, coloring and scenting your own loaf of soap.

This is not a short 2-hour class where you just make soap, this class provides you with a full understanding of the safety precautions, tools, materials and processes you need to master to safely create soap. At the end of the class, you will have created your own soap loaf weighing about 1 ½ pounds to take home with a retail value of over $30!

 Requirements:

Have a desire to learn soap making

Be able to follow instructions

During this 4-hour class, you will learn:

  • What is soap?
  • Difference in soapmaking processes
  • Soapmaking terminology
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and soapmaking equipment
  • Oil & Butter properties
  • Soap recipes
  • Tips and tricks
  • Q&A session (is this just a hobby – great. Or we can talk business)

Botanicals & Exfoliants (January 19th at Noon)

If you’ve got the basics of cold process soapmaking down, let’s upgrade your soap!

In this class, you’ll use your already acquired soapmaking skill to blend skin nourishing oils and butters with botanicals like rose petals, and exfoliants like salt to create a new and exciting lathering experience!

In this hands-on class, you will make a loaf of soap weighing about 1 ½ pounds to take with you (with a retail value of over $30)

Requirements:

Have a desire to advance soap making skills

You must have taken an introductory soapmaking class. We won’t be covering the basics in this class. If you need an introductory class, please check for my Introduction to Cold Process Soapmaking class.

During this 2-hour class, you will learn:

  • Safety overview and tool recap
  • Let’s talk about adding value (upgrading)
  • Botanicals in your soap?
  • Exfoliants
  • The choice is yours
  • Tips and tricks
  • Q&A session (is this just a hobby – great. Or we can talk business)

Class Policies for all sessions:

  • Students must be 18 years of age or older.
  • All students must sign a liability waiver.
  • Wear clothing that you don’t mind possibly staining. Long sleeves, pants and closed toe shoes are required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn as directed by the instructor. This includes goggles, dishwashing gloves and an apron. You can bring your own if you would like, but the instructor will have some available to loan to you for the class.
  • Please do not bring non-students to the class. This includes children and/or pets.

This class is a safe space allowing students the opportunity to explore their inner crafts-person extraordinaire in a supervised setting allowing them to leave the class with the confidence to continue to create soap on their own.

About the Instructor:

Ayieta Crawford, owner of 4 the Love of Bubbles has been creative plant-based bath and body products since 2007 and has been teaching students the art of crafting natural bath and body products for the last two years. With a degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Psychology, in 2019, Ayieta stepped away from her 20-year corporate career in Human Resource Management and Personnel Development to devote her attention full time to her business. She is passionate about sharing her acquired knowledge with others as well as furthering her own knowledge through research and experimentation.

When Ayieta is not in her making space creating #BubbleLove for her Unicorn Tribe of customers and loved ones, she enjoys relaxing at home with her family and cats reading or watching movies. Her family are huge comic book fans so you might find her at a local Comic Con or at the release of a new comic book character movie
